Klaus was born in Finland, originally and now lives in London. Klaus Haapaniemi got interested in illustration after seeing some well-designed Russian animations on TV when he was only eight years old. After graduating from Lahti Design Institute, Klaus lived in Italy where he worked as a key print designer for Diesel and Diesel Stylelab. Klaus also has an ever expanding range of his own published books plus ceramics and wall tapestry collections. Klaus' designs that he creates include a range of mixed medias, from digital prints, acrylic, airbrushing etc.

I really must say that Klaus has a variety of interesting pieces. Some of exhibitions utilize his artwork along with installation, paintings, etc... The textures in his pieces really add to his compositions. Most of the design work is very fluid and organic in its conception. Also, the use of repeated elements in his illustrations add a lot of interesting character. There is definitely a sense of pattern going on his works, possibly some relation to surface design. Definitely someone everyone should check out.
